Last week we held our Annual General Meeting. This included voting for new committee who will stand for the next 12 months. After the formal business we were entertained by our committee member Andy Young, accompanied by his Musical Director Paul, with a performance of songs from shows over the years, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

At our AGM last week, we had the pleasure of handing over a cheque for £1200 to The Friends of Worthing Hospital. Money raised at our charity Race Night. The money will be used for the benefit of patients in Worthing Hospital. Photo shows cheque being presented by our Chair, Jan Alexander.

With the latest suggestions about giving more power to Mayor's on planning decisions. Along with the current Planning Act 2008, giving a single minister the ability to rule over Nationally significant infrastructure projects. Last Sunday some of us from the GRA joined a group from our neighbours at Ferring for a litter pick session. A large group met to cover the concrete roads and verges to the farmers fields on the Southern Gap. An enormous amount of litter and rubbish was collected, some shown in the photo; plus a number of large items, including mattress, paint tins, an electric mower and some asbestos cement sheeting was also put aside for collection by Adur and Worthing Council. This coming Saturday 15th August at Goring Hall Hospital, a family fun day and dog show. 10am to 4pm, with the dog show open at 1pm.

For our August litter picking session, last Saturday we cleared a section of Amberley Drive, west of the Plantation. This is the concrete road through the cornfields, forming part of the southern Goring Gap. We collected a large amount of litter, ranging from cans, bottles and even suspension brackets from a car, plus sofa cushions. This years Annual General Meeting is being held on Thursday 17th September at St Mary's church hall commencing at 7.00pm. Last week we held our charity race night at St Mary's Church hall. A full house enjoyed the evening and helped to raise over £1000 for our nominated charity for the evening, Friends of Worthing Hospitals. For our July litter picking session, a small group collected an assortment of litter from an area of the Greensward, from Sea Lane cafe up to the Plantation. Little did we realize that within hours part of the area would be taken over by caravans and motor homes!
