Our First Community Event
Last Saturday we organised a small group of members to carry out a local litter pick. We spent a couple of hours collecting between George 5th Avenue and Goring Library. Bags, gloves, pickers and hi-vis jackets were supplied by Worthing Council. The amount collected was staggering, anything recyclable was kept separate, but what was collected included numerous cans and bottles and even a toilet brush. The bags were left at the bin near the library and collected by the Council

Our first social event
Last Saturday we had a full house with over 100 attending at St Mary’s church hall, an interesting talk on past Goring, by local historian Chris Hare. This was our first event of the year and a Saturday morning rather than our normal Thursday evening. We had a lot of positive feedback on the day. Look out for details on our next event, Ali’s Music Bingo, which will be an evening event on Thursday 26 th March. Further details coming soon on the website and our Facebook page.

Visitors
Unusual visitors to the Greensward. Dark Bellied Brent Geese. They breed on the Siberian Tundra and thousands of them fly south, via the Baltic and North Sea, to spend winter in Chichester or Pagham harbour. They don't normally land on our Greensward, it may have been their first point of arrival in the country. After a brief stop, they moved on. Photo by Andrew Alexander, committee member.
