Countryside Close to Goring-by-Sea

Highdown Hill is just a few minutes drive from Goring-by-Sea. It is accessed from the A259 and has a car park, walks, gardens, a hotel and a cafe. There are fantastic views along the Sussex coast to Beachy Head and the Isle of Wight.  Highdown Hill is inside the South Downs National Park. 

Highdown Hill is owned by the National Trust.  The open downland is only 251ft above sea level. It is covered by a network of footpaths and bridleways. The public car park on the south east side of the is accessed by a driveway leading off the A259. Follow the sign to Highdown Towers Hotel. 

Highdown Gardens, maintained by Worthing Borough Council, is home to a National Collection of rare plants and trees.   The garden was developed by Sir Frederick Stern over a 50 year period with the objective of showing that plants could grow on chalk. It is highly ranked as a visitor attraction on TripAdvisor. Donations are welcome!
